Helping beginners find joyful movement, make peace with food & build (nicenice!) habits
serving anyone and everyone in Roncesvalles/Parkdale/High Park
Let's get you moving in ways that feel good
Whether you're looking to try new activities to find ones you enjoy, build a walking habit, work out at home (with or without a trainer), develop the stamina and confidence to join your local F45 or something else entirely, my speciality is working with beginners to discover movement practices that will bring them joy. The best movements are ones you actually want to do!
Let's get you eating in ways that feel good
Intuitive Eating is a self-care eating framework, which integrates instinct, emotion, and rational thought and was created by two dietitians, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch in 1995. Intuitive Eating is a weight-inclusive, evidence-based model with a validated assessment scale and over 100 studies to date. It's how I eat, and if there's anything about your relationship with food that just doesn't feel like it's working for you, you might enjoy learning about it, too.
Let's build some habits that feel good
According to researchers at Duke University, habits account for about 40 percent of our behaviours on any given day. Whether you have an intention to build better habits around sleep, mindfulness, movement, social connection or something else entirely, it can be hard to change habits on your own. I offer gentle, meet-you-where-you are coaching and accountability to help you build new habits (or say good-bye to ones that aren't serving you!) for good.
If you don't live in Toronto, reach out to me anyway! I may be able to refer you to someone amazing in your city or who practices online.
I don't believe in dieting, as studies show they're not effective over the long term.
I take a neutral stance towards my body and the bodies of others and will never comment on yours.
The wellness industry is a mess. I focus on what research shows contributes to health.
Hi! I'm Heather, a mom of three and long-time resident of Parkdale in Toronto.
I've always been focused on helping people improve their lives. For the past 11 years, I've helped 1000+ people leave behind less-than-satisfying jobs for more rewarding (and lucrative!) careers in the tech industry.
After exiting that business, I spent a long time thinking about what I wanted to do next, and landed on helping people enjoy their lives. I'm currently completing my Intuitive Eating Counsellor certification and re-certifying as a Personal Trainer after a 15 year break. I'm eager to use my unique perspective as an anti-diet, body-neutral Personal Trainer & Intuitive Eating Counsellor to help people in my neighbourhood live lives that are more joyous, peaceful and fun.
